Artist Spotlight: Marcel Castenmiller

I can't help but admire film photography and its ability to capture the rawness of real life. Not that digital can't do that, but there is more of a control factor that doesn't let you experiment with chance when you're operating a digital camera. That's entirely my opinion and although I own both an analogue and film camera, I somehow always come back to film.

Marcel  Castenmiller was born on November 14th, 1986. He is known for his gauzy, lo-fi analogue photography of daily life in New York City, his female muses, and candid moments of random things he comes across that capture his attention. He was actually discovered by my favorite photographer, Ryan McGinley (whom i'll be doing an artist spotlight soon), during a photoshoot. Castenmiller's work is portrayed through photos of beauty, innocence of wanting to capture something pretty, transparent youth, and also his relationship with model gf, Ali Michael. I love his collection and I hope you do too. xo
